Papasidero is a mountain village in the National Park of Pollino. It has far more churches here than any of its neighbouring larger towns. All are full of history and well worth a visit. Here you will see the real old Italy.
This village is also well known for its prehistoric remains from the Palaeolithic period which were found in 1961 by Paola Graziosi. They are to be found in the Grotto Romita.
The Pollino Park itself has amazing scenery. Its 1 million acres is the largest protected area in Italy between Calabria and Basilicata with mountains reaching 7.000 feet. Nature is at its wildest here with vast areas of wilderness and numerous fine animals and birds to see.
