Praia a Mare (top tip-it is called PRAJA if you are trying to find it in TRENITALIA timetable!) is a thriving town right on the coast a few kilometers north of San Nicola.

Facilities

It has excellent shopping facilities and restaurants and a very good hospital. In the high season it also has quite a busy nightlife and it is also home to the Aqua Fans water theme park which is one of the biggest and best in Europe. There are opportunities for parascending, scuba diving and also boat trips around the very scenic Dino Island where Ulysses, legend has it, stayed to rest during his travels.
