| Scalea is a main holiday resort for the Italians and indeed grows in population ten fold in the Summer months but still remains relatively busy with restaurants and shops staying open outside of this season. |

| It has two areas, the more modern part near the beach - the Scalea Marina centre, with its well equiped bathing regions and hotels and the 'centro storico' situated high above the new town where the main street is an attractive stairway that begins in piazza De Palma. Many monuments and works of art still remain today with the Norman Castle, the Palazzo Palamolla and Torre Cimalonga being of particular interest. |
