Andiamo Italian Homes Ltd is a UK based company founded by Anne Marie Cupparo (48). Annie lived and worked in Calabria for nearly 20 years and still retains close family links in San Nicola Arcella where she has a house in the centro storico. She speaks Italian fluently. Her son Totti is one of Italy's Race Bike Champions and runs several businesses in the immediate area. It is Annie's local contacts, knowledge and understanding of the people, their culture and language, which puts Andiamo Homes in a unique position to find you the perfect holiday or permanent piece of paradise!
Annie will in future be the link between the UK office and Southern Italy. She will be there to guide and show you the selection of properties for sale that we can offer you.
Twenty Years Experience
'With over twenty years experience of the area we founded the company. In this time I have seen the metamorphosis of Southern Italy. In more recent times it has emerged with new ideas in attracting tourism and the young people especially are now aware of the immense heritage and beauty contained in their area. Towns have now stricter planning laws and enforcement and new builds are well designed and in keeping with the surroundings. Old towns and their 'centre storico' are being rediscovered and lovingly restored to their former glory. Many of the beautiful coastal areas are now under protection from further development and Calabria and Basilicata have the largest Italian National Park. Over the years I have grown to love both the area and people and above all admire them for their great optimism and sense of the family. The area is one of the most beautiful areas in Europe and completely underrated with so much to offer and such variety.
We are working closely with the local tourist boards of both Basilicata and Calabria in the promotion of Southern Italy as a holiday destination and in particular the National Pollino Park. I gained great experience in learning to understand and work with my Italian colleagues in a working environment. We worked closely with the tourist boards and local councils in the promotion of Calabria. The Equestrian side of the business was a new venture in Northern Calabria and encouraged many children for the first time to experience horse-riding.'
Martin Pearse (59) has business interests in England, including www.mcpmotorsport.com. and is also captain of the England O55 Squash Team plus Chairman of England Squash Masters. Martin and his wife, Jane, were literally one of Annie's first clients and they were so entranced by the area that they are now involved! "I have travelled extensively over Europe for the last 40 years and have seen prices for areas rise through the roof when the foreigners invade. This part of Italy is utterly stunning and is leagues ahead of its competitors, Eastern Europe, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia etc. in overall investment potential. Spain is now the dumping ground for disillusioned Brits, with crime absolutely rampant, in certain places, and the others mentioned are all war-torn or flawed in many ways, in my opinion! The Government is intent on linking the South to the North and progression for tourism is top of the agenda for Southern Italy, politically.
A major plus for investment purposes is that Ryanair have just announced from 2006 they are flying from Stansted to Lamezia which is on the west coast of Calabria. Wherever the budget airlines have opened up, house prices have increased dramatically.
The people are lovely, polite and family orientated, just like Britain was a long time ago.
The scenery is as good as the Cote D'Azur or the Sorrento Amalfi area, at about a third of the price!
So bring your dictionary, a smile and you will fall in love with it!
