Scilla

Scilla

Scilla is one of the most picturesque fishing villages on the Tyrrhenian coast and lies about 30km north of Regio. Its name derives from the ancient myth of Scylla and sits above the famous rock that, according to Homer, hid a monster with six heads and twelve feet. The rocky outcrop divides Scilla into two main parts: Marina Grande, which is the more touristy area with tratorias to accommodate them and Chianalea which is the old fishing port where the houses are stacked up one upon another with a maze of pathways. The medieval church of the Immaculate Conception, together with the Ruffo Castle dominate the skyline.
