San Nicola is perched some 110 metres or so above the sea with a coastline very similar to Cornwall. To the Southwest are truly spectacular views over the Gulf of Policastro and then in the other direction the mountains rising to about 2000 metres. There are two wonderful beaches tucked away below the cliffs and the sea is absolutely perfect for bathing, being crystal clear and as blue as the sky.

The "Centro Storico" was built hundreds of years ago high above a gorge and set back a little from the sea to give it protection from unwelcome invaders. It is a maze of narrow streets, piazzas and alleyways and a small number of shops and restaurants where time passes slowly punctuated only by the chimes of the ancient church clock. The newer part of the town is also very attractive and desirable and we have many clients who have made a home here.

Nearby are the larger towns of Scalea, with its soon to be completed airport, and Praia a Mare which boasts excellent shops and main-line railway station. And although only half an hour from up-market Maratea, the properties we have for sale here represents excellent value. |
