Southern Italy is a region steeped in history and has always been a popular destination for holiday homes with the Italians and it is easy to see why with its mountains, forests and beautiful coastline. But now, however, it is an area that is gaining increasing interest from the international market and is seen as one of the best areas for future investment.

This area is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy, steeped in history and traditions, with an enormous variation of stunning scenery and vistas. Calabria is a mostly mountainous region - The Pollino Mountains forming a natural barrier separating it from the rest of Italy. Property here can vary enormously from restoration projects to luxury villas, from villages on hillsides to a property on the coast. Basilicata is also becoming popular with its crystal clear sea and pines falling steeply to its shores. Its main port, Maratea, is a fascinating town with its old churches and alleyways. Here, where it is fairly exclusive, property can be more expensive but there are still value properties to be had.
